The crazy NBA off-season continues. After reports surfaced about Jason Kidd signing a 3-year deal in Dallas to remain with the Mavericks, Marc Stein of ESPN tweeted that he’s had a change of heart and will now join the New York Knicks on a deal similar to the 3 year $9 million he had supposedly agreed to with the Mavs.
The contract cannot be signed till July 11, when a flurry of reported deals will become official. Till then the Knicks and their fans can only hope and pray that he doesn’t change his mind again. After losing out on Steve Nash, and with the possibility of losing Jeremy Lin to Houston via the vaunted Poison-Pill contract, acquiring Kidd is probably the best case scenario. He’s not a ball stopper at the point and at this point of his career can facilitate well between Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudamire.
