Just moments after landing the biggest free agent in 2011, in Albert Pujols, The Los Angeles Angels have signed starting pitcher CJ Wilson and will pay him somewhere between $75 million and $77 million over 5 years.
Wilson, the ace on a Texas Rangers side that made 2 straight World Series, was apparently deciding between the Miami Marlins and LA. You have to expect the Pujols signing to have been a major factor in the final decision.
He joins a staff that already boosts Jered Weaver, Dan Haren and Ervin Santana, although you can expect one, likely Santana, to be traded.
Wilson went 16-7 with a 2.94 ERA in 2011.
