Just four months before England embark on EURO 2012, Manager Fabio Capello has resigned amid controversy surrounding the decision to strip captain John Terry of his armband.
Terry was removed as captain after investigation stemmed from the FA on alleged racist taunts on QPR defender Anton Ferdinand in an EPL game in December.
Capello openly criticized the FA’s decision to remove Terry from captain on Italian TV.
He was due to leave his post as manager after EURO 2012, but the now sudden leave puts England’s tournament success in questions.
The FA will attempt to find a replacement quick. Speculation has spread about the desire to have current Tottenham Manager Harry Redknapp replace Capello, but issues with the Spurs club may hold that back.
